Greetings,

Received my Crack kit on Friday, 11/5/10 and just finished putting it together today.  First off, I'm a newbie when it comes to electronics and higher-end audio equipment, especially amplifiers.  I performed the included resistance checks, but did not do a voltage check mainly because I have not assembled the wooden base yet, and I felt it very difficult to arrange the chassis in such a way that it would be safe to check voltages.  I know some of those who are reading this may be wincing a little and even shaking your head.  Bare with me a little further.  On start up, the tubes did glow.  I then plugged in some cheap in-ear's and a Sansa Fuze to test any audio.  Everything worked great and I haven't received any audible humming, crackling, buzzing, or any disturbances, besides lovely-sounding music.

Regarding the topic in concern:

I am getting a subtle vibration throughout the chassis (near the Potentiometer) and on the volume knob when the amp is powered on.  However, the vibration is very weak and not noticeable when moving a couple of inches away from the Potentiometer.  Is this normal or should I be checking into the connections?

Thanks in advance!

It is possible that the top plate vibrates with the power transformer.  Some mechanical vibration from transformers is normal.

And possibly I didn't understand your concern.
