Hi:
I have got two chokes for my Crack.
A: 10H/100mA DCR=185R
B: 10H/90mA DCR=180R

I guess Choke A shall be the first choke for better performance? Is it correct?

I think I'll need to add resister(s) to pad down the B+ while replacing the original resisters with the chokes.
Where shall I place the resisiter(s)? Add it to the output of the first choke C-L-R-C-L-C?

My current B+ is 205V.
What is the ideal B+ range?

Thanks,

Robin

Those chokes are close enough to be considered identical.

You don't need to add resistance to drop the B+, a little extra won't hurt anything.

Modification done and run for a few days.
The sound improved a lot. Works well but the unit seems get a little hotter.
The B+ is now 213V.
The transformer cover temperature is around 116 F. The top plate is around 108 F.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Robin

A Crack with a Speedball will have very consistent power transformer temperatures.

We do our best to keep our power transformers cool enough that it doesn't hurt to touch them, though they can be operated at far higher temperatures without damaging the materials used to make them.

Thanks.
Good to know it's not abnormal. I'm fine with the heat as long it is working properly.

I have other amps hotter than the Crack especially OTL amps.
Oh yes! Crack is an OTL as well. LOL
