I know there are at least a few Firefox users out there who may know the answer to this.  I suspect part of the issue has something to do with a Firefox setting I can't find, but since it only appears to be a problem on the Bottlehead Forum, for me at least, I thought I would ask here.

I have Firefox set up to default in "Private Browsing" mode, on a PC running XP Home.  Both FF and XP are kept up-to-date.

When I go to open a JPEG attached to post here, FF ALWAYS asks me what to do with it, no matter what FF settings I change.  I have FF set up to open JPEGs with itself, and that works fine on other sites.  If I update FF, it reverts to "Always Ask" or "Save to", and if I change that setting back to "Open With Firefox", it works for that one post one time, opening the JPEGs in new windows.  After that, it goes back to asking for instructions, even though none of the settings have changed.

Does anyone have any idea WTF I'm missing here?  I have read that sites send out a little prefix with JPEGs that might include an instruction that FF interprets as meaning "Always Ask".  Is it possible that the Forum software is doing so?  I have not had an issue with opening JPEGs anywhere else I've been.

Maybe it has something to do with private browsing mode, I am new to Firefox and am using it as downloaded and I am not haveing any problems.

 I was using Explorer 6 and I couldn't get the JPEG's to open...John

Thanks, that's my only guess at this point.

It's more of an inconvenience than anything, since when I try to view the JPEG, a new dialog box always open up that I have to respond to. The JPEG opens just fine after the response, it's just the extra step that's annoying, since I haven't had to do it any place else.
