I'm about to start building my crack, and was wondering if it's okay to paint the visible parts of the screws and washers that attach the transformer and tube sockets. Especially the ones on the transformer. I don't want to interfere with any of the grounding. I'm wondering about painting them before assembly, so the entire washer and screw head would be painted.

I couldn't find many previous posts mentioning doing this, and any that were similar seemed to be for an older revision of the crack.

Thanks for any advice!

The screw heads can definitely be painted.  Which washers are you wanting to paint?

The flat washers that go on the top side of the transformer cover, not the ones underneath.

I would not paint those.

Okay, thanks!

Should I avoid paint on the underside of the screw head, then? Or on the transformer cover where the washer makes contact?

The lockwasher should poke through that well enough when you tighten the hardware down.  I wouldn't be quite as certain of that if the lockwasher was also painted.

Gotcha. Thanks for the quick replies. Much appreciated!
