Would it make any difference running my DAC output voltage at 2 or at 3 volts into my Mainline other than volume level? I am curious as to whether 3 V presents a problem for the Mainline?

I wouldn't put more than 40V of signal into a Mainline.

So as to stay well under the heat stress (W) rating of the attenuator resistors?

cheers and thanks, Derek

Yeah, you don't want to overheat the attenuator resistors.
