8-pin instead of 9-pin in the driver tube when building?

Hi all, I'm very excited to get started on my Crack, and I have a question. I know the regular build has a 12AU7 driver tube, and that a lot of folks prefer to run a 6SN7 there via adapter. Well, I have an extra 8-pin Belton socket from my Darkvoice modding... adventure, let's call it. Would it be reasonable to put that in place of the 9-pin socket when building? Or should I just do it normal (but with a Belton 9-pin) and use a 12AU7-->6SN7 adapter?

Thanks in advance!

(Also for the Bottlehead copywriters... "Crack may be the biggest cause of tweaking" is kind of hilarious)

You'll have to hack up the chassis to get that socket installed and the build instructions will no longer be valid for what you're doing.  For that reason most folks go with an adapter.
