Hi all, I was wondering about copperleafing my top plates. They're painted with the copper flavored hammerite from rustoleum now, but it just doesn't give me that copper color that I lust after. A friend of mine told me about copperleafing and I was wondering if it would be ok, electrically, to leaf my top plates with the stuff. I assume I would need to finish the leaf job with clear laquer (or a clear powder coat) to keep that wonderful color of copper. Thanks for listening.

I would like to see that.

I don't think it could cause any problems, I once used some copper flashing to cover a plate. worked well...John

I'm not familiar with leafing.  But if it covers only the top of the top plate the bottom continues to be the ground plane for the piece.  An insulating lacquer or powder coat that covers the bottom of the top plate would make it necessary for you to star ground all the parts mounted on it.
