Hi Team,

I'm unable to locate a seller for these LEDs in Australia (a lead snapped off one making it unsolderable).
Heading over to mouser.com, the price is low as expected, but shipping cost to Oz is rather ridiculous!

If anybody can lead me in the right direction to obtain at least a couple of these, I'd be more than grateful.

Cheers,
Gary

Hello again,

I'm still having no luck locating replacement LED's.  Ended up using one from my Speedball Kit (which blew soon after installation), same thing happened after replacing with another. After installing a third LED, Crack is working perfectly and sounding great in my system, but obviously now I can't build the Speedball upgrade until I find replacement LEDs!  Could someone please let me know whether these particular ones (available on ebay) would be suitable?

50 pcs, Subminiature RED LED Lamps SMT 655nm 1.6V 10mA

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Calibration of the C4S output current is specific to these LEDs so substitutes will not work exactly right; you'd probably have to revise R1 to get the right current. These are an older design but still available. They are "standard red" - not AlGaAs, not high efficiency, the oldest technology. I believe their inefficiency is related to their superior dynamic impedance. The original device was also chosen for low noise; it's been out of production for many years but these appear to be the nearest thing; I suspect but can't prove they are made with the same machinery.

If you're patient, I'm pretty sure they have mail in Australia.  <-- intended to be humor - you can laugh here  :^)

Gary,

A call would be expensive.  As I PMd you, contact Eileen, in your case via email, and they will send a replacement.

Contacts are here:

Thanks Paul,  Australia Post DO deliver (eventually...). Not sure that I understand the rest of your post tho, as I'm rather illiterate with electronic design - I can only follow simple instructions!

@ Grainger, I contacted queenie as you suggested, but never heard back from her )-:

Thanks guys - I'll keep waiting...

The Queen - being smarter than Doc or me - takes her weekends off.  :^)  I'm sure you'll hear from her on Monday - at least, on OUR side of the dateline!

Too much gets caught up in the Bottlehead spam filter.  That has happened to several international Bottleheads.  This may have happened to your email too.

PM me with the details, I will call them and get it sent.
