Silly question: Before I start mounting hardware, I want to be 100% sure I've got the top and bottom sides of the chassis straight. If I understand correctly, the top side should have more of a brushed finish. I'm unable to discern a brushed finish on either side of the chassis I've got, but one side is definitely more mat than the other. The thing is, based on the orientation of the holes, the mat side seems to correspond to bottom of the chassis. Can I go ahead and mount the hardware anyway, since I'm guessing the important things is that the holes are properly oriented? Do I have this all wrong?

On page 10 of the manual it shows the top of the chassis plate. That is the correct orientation.

You must always use the orientation of the holes to determine what is the top side. I had to stop doing the hand brushed random pattern several months ago due to arthritis. The panels are now grained with a drum sander.
