Hi All,

It's been a very very long time since I've been on the forum as I've thoroughly enjoyed keeping my modded S.E.X amp in use for something like 12-14 years now.  Recently upon start up, there is occasionally a screeching/scratching sound that is solved by small rotations of the volume potentiometer.  The amp sounds fine after those small adjustments.  Is it time to lay it to rest and replace it, or perhaps simply clean it with one of the several potentiometer cleaners out there?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Happy holidays!

And if replacement is likely the best plan, has anyone simply used a couple resistors in place of the pot if you use this amp with a pre-amp that already has volume control?

I would spray some cleaner into the pot while you're rotating the knob and see if that eliminates the issue.
