Is it possible to overheat a point in the selector switch (like the power switch I melted)? I notice on one terminal, it isn't quite as sturdy, but seems fine, just nervous after melting a power switch. I would hate to get to a point and have to re-solder all those wires there. Not sure if there is a way to test terminal 3 from page 46?

You'll have to test all the inputs when the preamp is complete.  If they are all working but a terminal is a little wiggly, you can drip just one small drop of super glue onto it (not the gel kind) to keep it from moving around.
