As the subject line implies I'm thinking about anodized tube shields.  The link that I posted before in DebK's Eros thread is now dead.

Googling gets me two sites, both with limited options.

Thanks in advance!

After you told me how bad my Eros looked with the silver tube shields :-) just kidding

I bought some copper anodized ones from Angela Instruments.  They have them in a few colors.  And  you were right the Eros does look much better with the color anodized shields

Debra,

Well, compared to the top plate and base they looked... plain!  I'm going to go with the copper Hammertone for mine too.  I'm going to spray paint the tube shields too but expect that I will want the anodized ones as well.

Thanks, I hadn't remembered that Angela had them.

Mojotone has them in black, green, blue, and yellow.

I've used the green ones on my Bassman and the look pretty good.

Be careful Rustoleum makes two types of Hammered spray paint.  The one called Universal Hammered Spray paint works better on the top plates.

It looks like I bought the other kind.  It took 5 minutes looking at the shelves of RustOleum before I found the copper between two gloss enamels.  Seems it was misplaced.  The Ace Hardware I went to didn't have copper, only 3 colors in Hammered.

Before I use it I will try the paint store the Ace guy directed me to.

Thanks for the warning!

It was sunny today so I cleaned the already primed top plate and gave it what I thought was a medium coat.  It came out pretty well.  I think I shouldn't mess with it any more for fear of screwing it up.

Picture coming in a minute:

Yup, resisting the urge to mess around with it for a while is the way to go. A few days is best. Baking it in the oven for a bit can help, but it still seems to need time to harden fully.

Thanks Doc!  I will put it back in the sun as soon as it is "dry to the touch."

I'm not adverse to baking it either.  I'll see how low the oven can be set.

Thanks Doc!  I will put it back in the sun

Lucky you, we got exactly 8 days of summer this year and the weather guys say that's probably it for the season. It's raining and 52 degrees as I type this.

I'm still a little foggy on how all this global warming is bringing on another ice age. Personally I think we need to conquer the sun rather than Afghanistan, and learn how to herd sunspots.

Thanks Deb!  Like drywall work it is hard to realize when to leave it alone.  I'm good with dry wall after a good coaching job from a buddy, Neal Mucklow.

Dan,

You live in the Pacific Northwest, you are not supposed to see the sun but 5 days a year (according to Bill Cosby, lo those many years ago).
