I finished building a SEX kit, a first time effort at this kind of thing.  Unfortunately, I failed the "smoke test."  After plugging it in the first time, there was smoke from the 8.2K ohm resistors between 6 and 11 and between 16 and 21.  After checking over several times, I just saw the error in manual post.  I installed the 22uF 450V capacitors with the stripped ends to 11U and 21U instead of 12 and 22.

Is that the reason for the smoke?  Other than replacing the resistors and changing the polarity on the capacitors, is there anything else to be wary of?  Did I damage any other components?  Should I bring it to the get together on the 19th?

Thanks,
Pat

Sorry about the manual error! Changing out just those parts will probably fix everything, though you might want to check the UF4007 rectifier diodes as well. If they read around 1.5K ohms when you measure across them they are fine. If they read really low, like 50 ohms, they will need to be replaced too. Bringing it to the get together on the 19th is exactly the kind of thing we had in mind for that meeting. We can send you the parts or just have them here for you on the 19th, whichever you prefer.

Thanks, the rectifier diodes look ok, resistance about 1.3K ohm.  But my desoldering skills leave a lot to be desired.  I'll look forward to meeting you at the get together.   Hopefully, I didn't do anything else wrong.
