I'm in the process of installing MQ BCM-8 chokes in lieu of the 270 ohm resistor in the Paramounts.

While I'm under the hood I'm tempted to remove the cathode bypass resistors. I don't need too much bass since my midbass speakers only go down to around 100hz. I also have more gain than needed so that shouldn't be an issue.

Any reason why I shouldn't proceed? The amps are 2A3 version.

BTW. Already installed the chokes in two of the six amps and the change is dramatic. Can't wait to install the rest tonight.

Thanks

I did remove the bypass caps in one channel's amps. No good. Very distorted sound.

The chokes, on the other hand, yummy!

I was going to ask if you meant caps. I moved the lower transformer tap to the cathode, rather then ground. Now removing the bypass caps from my SR-45 seems to make little difference...John
