Just finished my first project, a S.E.X. amp. I'm using it for a desktop set up with Orca's.  I had a few resistances off, and a few voltages that I've been trouble shooting over in the s.e.x forum. Mostly getting things worked out but I have readings that are still off. I've been using the amp with "issues" and loving it and not noticing problems.  I've spent hours on the forums reading about pops, and cracks, and no sound, and smoke, and hums, and all kinds of issues...Why does mine not have sound problems? I can max out the volume with the right source and i'm blown away by how good it sounds.  I have a 2 channel system with some decent components, so I think I know what good sound is, At least I know when it doesn't sound right.
I 'm still spending hours trying to get a few missing volts to show up and get a few voltages down on some terminals. I'm grateful i can listen with good results but am concerned I'm doing something unsafe or wrong by using the amp with measurements not with in range.

Your amp is good - see my post in the other forum.

Generally speaking, the forums have a high concentration of problems because those with no problems are listening to their music instead of posting about their problems. :^)

Yes, Guf, enjoy my friend, while you can! You will 'break' it in due time, in the quest to make it 'better'. Still, all good.

That is the thing.  Mostly the forum hears of the problems.  A lot of guys finish the kits and go on to listening without posting.  It can give you a cock eyed view of the ease of achieving a good kit at the start.

guf,

It's also only going to get better -- much better as both the amp and the speakers break-in.

Just enjoy! :-)

Of course it is also quite natural to be concerned about some off readings, but if something ws terribly wrong, you would hear something amiss, or smell something :-).

Have fun,

Jim
