I got laid off at the end of last year and have quite a bit of extra time on my hands right now. I would like to learn more about Electronics in particular about Audio. I will start a basic electronics course at a Community College soon but I am sure that it is not a lot about Audio. I want to learn more out of general interest but also because I eventually would like to be able to repair Audio equipment. I have an old Teac Reel to Reel that needs some help and I would want to start with that. I feel like there are quite a few people here that had or still have a career in the electronics field and I would like to ask for suggestions.
Is there good literature out there and/or websites that will teach a beginner like me?
My knowledge is very basic I know what a resistor and a capacitor do, as a kid I had an beginners electronics kit that taught you these basics, I build two Bottlehead kits last year, I fixed my amp by swapping out old capacitors but still do not understand how my amp/preamp actually work or how to read a schematic.
Thanks for any help or suggestions!

I want to suggest AudioKarma for assistance on your Teac RTR deck.

AudioKarma

You will need to know how to use a meter and read a schematic.  You should get those in the course you are enrolled in if it adheres to the name.

There are a lot of guys at AK who are very familiar with TEAC decks and the restoration of one.

Thanks for the input guys. There is a ton of info on the Neets site. I will try to work my way through it. I think it will take me some time to attend my TEAC RtR but the Audiokarma site looks very promising.
Anybody else on here who has other suggestions for info on audio electronics?
Thanks
