HOLY FREAKOUT BATMAN!!!!!

For the select few of us who were there, Jacqui and the band put on a totally amazing show. It really was "in your living room". I am fortunate enough to have been to BH HQ twice before, so I am somewhat familiar with Doc's listening space and barrage of 300B's. I had never heard the Tode before.

Words are completely inadequate. The mike Jaqcui was using was sublime? maybe? Smooooooth definitely. The Tode kicked so much ass when Art was playing it, I'm wondering how I can still sit!! The entire band was totally and completely awesome, the entire 2 hours was 10 out of 10.

The libations were superb, and then after the show we all got to hang with the band, as they are personal friends of Dan's. Most of the audience seemed to be mainly "seasoned" afficianados, and of course Josh and PB were there, as was Clark B and his wife, and a few lovely serving girls to keep things flowing without interruptions to the show.

My wife and I were in the first row of three, there were perhaps 20 people there? The band was quite literally within 20 feet of everyone in the room. And with Doc's system, in that room, it was what music is all about. I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it now.

I'm sorry more Bottleheads could not be there for this, and I just had to post this, in part to gloat, and in part to let you know you need to seek out live music and like minded folks and enjoy it to the fullest.

Sandy and I both thank you Dan and Jacqui et al for an unforgettable evening. I stand ready for the next one.

Could this be the beginning of a BH concert series?  :)  Wish that I had been able to make it to this.

Wow, thanks for the kind words, Rob! The kids had a great time last night, as did I. I admit now to a abandoning rest of the BH crew a little bit last week while I spent several days getting ready for the gig. The extra prep paid off, and the sound was pretty alright. I felt that Jacqui's voice was at it's best last night, and I have been listening to it for ten years now. She certainly did a great job of making my mic look good.

And I offer a thousand thank yous to Art for taking on that big ol' jazz box for the show. I consider it an immense favor when a musician forgoes his usual axe for something you drop in his lap the night before. It was nice to hear a real musician play it rather than my frustrated plinking. He was cookin' on our midi electric piano too.

Josh Jones might be the only drummer who will ever play that small room. His skill at playing softly without sacrificing the groove is unparalleled. And I found out this weekend he is a soul brotha - loves Johnny Guitar Watson as much as me.

And Chuck did a yeoman job as a last minute addition to the band. Nice to have a local musician in the mix.

To Kerry, yeah, people were coming up to me and asking when the next show will be. Now that we have done the acid test with my musical family I feel pretty good about trying it with other artists on a more regular basis. We're going to talk a bit about doing some more. It will be intimate whatever the program might be. I think the headcount was about 22 or 23. We might be able to squeeze in a couple more, but we were pretty cozy.

I shot a little video, and for once I managed to get it in focus. I will be seeing if I can edit some highlights and post them on youtube.

By the way the Jacqui and the band will be at Jazz Alley Tuesday night and Wednesday night. Eileen was out of town and missed last night's show so we will probably be at the Alley on Wednesday night. Say hi if you come by.

Will video do? Note that the sound was captured rather poorly by my camera's mic. It sounded a heluva lot better in the room.

Wow,.. what an awesome event!
I love seeing Jacqui and the gang live. And the smaller the venue the better (IMHO).
Wish I coulda been there for this one!

If there's going to be more of these, I might have to add Poulsbo to my short list on where to move!

Yeah, small venue is great. The jam session in my basement music room the night before was the most fun I've had in ages. I'll try to pick out a couple more tidbits to put on youtube.
