3300uf cap polarity

As I've posted before - I can't follow directions  so...

I'm replacing the 3300uf cap with a radial cap (Nichicon FG) instead of the axial provided.  It fits just fine.

Directions say short lead to 42u and that the arrows should point to 36u.  Radial cap has a long and short lead but I think they are "backwards".  Short lead has the - - - marking and that should be the negative lead.  Doesn't the direction of the arrows on an axial cap indicate the negative?  When I look at the schematic I think that the + on the cap should be at terminal 42 where the red jumper wire comes over from 38.  This would be the point on the schematic where all four 22 ohm resistors come together.  The way I have it with the short radial lead on 42 - it's the negative.

So I just need to know should the - side of the cap be at 36u.  If so, I need to reverse my radial.

I'll give you a "logical" solution to your question.

Bust out the DVM - measure the voltage across the cap.  If it's positive, then your red probe is on the + terminal and black is on the - terminal.

If the voltage is negative, swap your probes to correct the orientation.

(36 is ground/negative btw)
