I've saved up over the last few months for a set of Emission Labs 45 tubes. Now the question is do I want solid or mesh plates. I'm learning more towards the solid plate based on what I've read on different forums. If anyone has experience with this tube in a Paramour or Stereomour I'd be interested in your comments. If you could please include your preference for the 12AT7 driver tube in combination with the EML 45. -Thanks.

Go for the globe special edition. no upper support so they are delicate but sound delicate. solid plates.

I've listened to the solid plate (regular not globe) version briefly in my Paramounts.  They were gooood! :)

The globe special edition was a limited run and has been sold out for years.

im of the belief that tubesusa has a few pairs left. at least they did recently and they are still listed on their site...

Be aware that the unsupported end of the globe special makes it much easier to damage in shipping, and you probably can't pick them up at the factory yourself.

Also, EML has a new warrenty that may not cover those old tubes. You may want to check with Jac first before purchasing them.

Hey Tom,

I've had and heard both, and I definitely prefer thee solid plates. And tubesusa is definitely out of the globe special edition as I recently asked about them.

Good luck,

Jim
