I wanted to upgrade the knob on my stock pot.  It seems that the shaft is 1/4 inch from other posts, but every knob I have seen online has a 6 millimeter shaft size.  Since I was looking for a metal knob, and I doubt I could drill a new hole.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If the 6mm knob has a set screw you can drill it out to 1/4" if you clamp it well and have the set screw backed out.

Thanks.  Standard home drill and bit will get through aluminum with little fuss?

I have drilled out many 6mm knobs for our 1/4" pots.  To do so, you really want a drill press to keep the hole straight.  Depending on the knob, you may also want a bottoming drill bit for a second pass to maximize the length of the 1/4" hole without drilling through the knob.
