Heater current looks about the same, but Mu is 6.1 instead of 2 -- will this be a problem if one wants to use the WE 421A in this amp?

It should work well. DocB recently borrowed a 5998 (same as WE421) to try.

Sounds good.  Sure will be fun to build and play with this kit.  I found a couple of E80CCs at the bottom of the tube box, so those will be interesting to try as well.

I'm bidding on a pair of used Tungsol 5998's. If I don't win those, maybe I'll spring for the 412A's instead.

I was watching those and intended to make a snipe bid @ the end.  But, out of respect for a fellow bottlehead-er I will not do that now!
I was liking that auction because the seller isn't so far away from me.

Thanks. I was outbid when I checked after I got home from dialysis. I re-bid but I won't go any higher so if I'm outbid feel free to jump in. A thought occurs, I only need the one maybe we can split the pair.

Yeah, maybe.  If I didn't buy it I'm sure someone else around here would at least.

I'm out of the running on those 5998's, feel free to snipe away. Hope you win.
