With the speedball upgrade to the Crack all the work that went into coming up with the tweaks for the Crack Headphones was realized, then the cable failed. I plan on using the same (but new) TRS jacks and have a couple of questions about the cable and resistors.
1. I would like to make the cable closer to 3 meters long. Mogami has a lower capacitance microphone cable, W2549. Would it be advisable to use it for the longer run?
2. Were the carbon resistors chosen specifically for the application, or would metal film offer possibly better performance?

I know that listening will be the final proof, but if the designers have already ruled out the use of more expensive cable or newer technology resistors as not being able to deliver any benefit, I'd hate to reinvent a wheel that has already been thrown on the scrap heap.

TIA & Merry X-mas,
Karl

Any resistors of the same value will be fine and you don't need to worry about cable capacitance. The Mogami cable would probably be fine.
