DAC won't display any change in sample rate unless done manually in Audio MIDI Setup. I'm using a mid 2011 MacBook Air with OS X 10.10.4. I've tried a few of the solutions posted here with no success. What can I do?
Thanks, Jess

If you want the DAC to use high resolutions, you will need to use a player that can do that. Amarra, jRiver, Audirvana, et cetera.

Yeah, Apple core audio doesn't change bit depth/sampling frequency on the fly.  That's why many people use one of those named applications to manage the switching.  It's one thing that is actually easier to deal with in Windows than on a Mac.  Windows 7 audio allows "exclusive control" to other applications, and there are several free applications (like foobar) that do it very simply.  I haven't used any of the Mac software.

Bottlehead Gear: Foreplay 2&3, Extended S.E.X., Paramours I w/ iron upgrade, Straight 8's, Tode, Bottlehead DAC.  Guitar gear: Les Paul Standard 1981, Ernie Ball John Petrucci BFR, POD HD500x, Marshall JCM1, TC Electronic G-Force.

Got Amara and the DAC is displaying is as it should. I'm playing it through Quickie, SEX, a bucket sub, and ADS HT300 speakers nearfield. I"m loving it. Now all I need is a system worthy of this DAC.
Thanks for the feedback.
