Sort of a noob question here:  I know that in many SS amps that increasing the capacitance in the power supply
can give the amp better dynamics and power reserve.  Is this true for the three caps near the transformer on the Crack
or do they have to be a specific value for the circuit to operate properly?

The three 220uF caps should be at least 220uf.  You can go bigger and have a listen without causing any kind of meltdowns, though you may run out of space fairly quickly.
