So we knocked out half of the walk-in closet, Green Glued up a second layer of drywall and turned one of the upstairs bedrooms into a beer-bar/den.
The popcorn ceiling is gone and now the TV is virtually unintelligible (as if that isn't already part of the description) Music is not so bad, I'm guessing because the speakers are lower.
If anyone has ideas short of re-spraying the ceiling, they would be greatly appreciated. (Bonus points for high WAF!)
TIA, Karl

I'd start by treating your back wall.  [Er, front wall, that's what I meant!]

I think Peebs means the front wall, behind the speakers. Killing first reflections on the side walls will help too, as might a cloud suspended from the ceiling.

That could work. Or something along these lines -

I recommend ATS Acoustics.  Reasonably priced, fast shipping and they work well.

Thanks everyone for weighing in.
I was pleasantly surprised how much installing the diamond tuck-n-roll bar kick panel (about 20% of back wall) did. I also expanded the recycled wood mosaic (seen to the left of the TV in the original post) to approx. 70% of the front wall to act as a diffuser.
While I like Paul's cloud idea, I'm afraid the "Lounge" would take on more of an infant play room vibe, (although that may happen with over indulgence) I think my next step is to pick up some panels for strategic placement per Doc and Hank.
Thanks again,
Karl
