To get a light cabinet color, I would use a light finish.  The water based poly clear coats that we have used over the years seem to be extremely light, but you'll have to do several coats with a decent amount of sanding between them.  I used Tried and True on my prototype Jagers and they didn't darken at all.

That is a lot tube gear.  Is it all connected to your system?

My first (are the cabinets included in the kit price), I believe has been answered as “YES”, after reading the posts.

My second: is the price for a single speaker, or a pair?

Yes, they do come with cabinets (the cabinets are too important not to include) and the price is per pair.
