Which basic mods do what?

That appears to be a basic conductive plastic pot.  Audio Note should be decent quality but I tried a conductive plastic pot recently and it seems to have gone bad quickly (making all kinds of odd noises).  So I'm a little hesitant to try them again.  Especially with the ladder stepped attenuators being so readily available and inexpensive.

Which Audio Note pot did you get, can you send a link?  I saw the link above is to a balance pot, isn't that for left and right fade?

Aah!  Crap!  I got the wrong one!  I think I originally bookmarked the one Bruce linked, but somehow got confused and then linked and subsequently bought the other one.  Phooey.
