SmashQuiet question
« on: February 23, 2019, 10:51:53 AM »
I have a question re. the SmashQuiet upgrade. The stock Smash has a volume pot and a balance pot. The SmashQuiet replaces those with pots for a coarse and fine volume tuning. How does the SmashQuiet deal with adjusting the balance? I had to play with the balance pot to get it right, so it did not seem to be just an "optional gimmick". ;)
Thanks. FS

Carbon volume pots are not known for having the most solid channel balance at low levels, so if you are listening in the first 1/4 turn or so of the pot, then the balance control can come in handy.

The SmashQuiet does not use a carbon pot, so channel balance is within the tolerance of the resistors themselves (which is very tight, especially logarithmically).

Thanks, Paul. I have just now placed an order for the SmashQuiet upgrade. I paid using PayPal. However, when I tried to download the manual, I got a server error. When I refreshed the page, it said that I had zero downloads left. ???
