Hi,

I have a 6FJ7 from my SEX kit that had a short between the two triode's plates (pins 5 and 11). (It caused voltage check failure before I realized there was a short.) I recently handled the tube and heard a rattling sound and then noticed the getter was detached. It moved around the tube before becoming lodged between the glass and one of the triodes. Please see attached picture. It seems to be stuck at where it is pretty well.

Well, the short between the two plates is now gone, so I assume the getter was causing the short. So, would the tube be safe to use now? Obviously I don't want to damage the amp. Other than the two filament pins, there're no other shorts.

6FJ7s are suuuuuper cheap, I'd just get a new one. That's me, though. I bought four (two matched pairs - probably didn't even need to do that) for $27 from Dale at VacuumTubes.net.
