Hi-

Can I simply connect the balanced XLR outputs on my BeePre to the RCA inputs on my SS amplifier using simple manufactured cables (example link below) without a loss of sound quality and volume or do I need a converter?  My BeePre is pretty noise-free with RCA to RCA. I also note that the sound appears to have improved after some hours of listening. Is that likely due to the caps, resistors, and tubes breaking in? Is the new BeePre2 better for connecting to a solid state amp than the original BeePre?

Thanks much!
Michael

You can just use a simple converter like these:
https://www.amazon.com/XLR-Adapter-Conwork-Professional-Construction/dp/B071WH9N5X/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1Z75PFDDELCCK&dchild=1&keywords=xlr+to+rca+adapter&qid=1610738929&s=electronics&sprefix=xlr+to+rca+adap%2Caps%2C237&sr=1-3

There's no issue with quality or loss of volume and the BeePre won't be bothered by this, it will be equivalent to using the RCA jacks next to the XLR jacks.

The sound will indeed change with break in, and it is mostly caps and tubes responsible for this.  The architecture of the new BeePre is a bit better optimized for solid state amps, so if you find that the microphonics are problematic for your setup, the BeePre 2 will help (though it sounds like you're not running into issues).
