Ground wire to transfromer lug
« on: May 01, 2022, 08:52:13 AM »
The ground wire from IEC goes to a chassis ground tab then to the transformer ground tab.
Why does the wire not just run straight from IEC ground to transformer ground tab. ???
Just curious as usual.

There are some safety regulations that suggest that the connection from IEC safety ground to the chassis be as short as possible.  It would conceivably be possible to simply combine the chassis ground and one of the transformer screws with no chassis insulators, but this introduces a moderately likely possibility that hardware mix-ups would allow for a floating chassis plate.
