Hello I will chime in, by filtering out the frequencies that are being reproduced by the sub, your main speakers will be happier that they do not have to do the heavy lifting of deep bass, and your Sex amp can use its power more efficiently and will give you more output.
In producing full range with one amp the bulk of the power goes to low frequencies.
