RCA Splitter device
on:
October 28, 2022, 06:06:14 AM
Hello,
Can someone point me to passive devices which can split my input. What I am looking for is to have my DAC feed either to my C2A or to my Moreplay but not both. I do not need a volume control/mute or any of that jazz
Browsing on the web, I saw some devices for this. But apparently they introduce extra noise and ruin the sound. Any recommendations/ideas on what to get?
Thanks in advance!

I removed my original post after PJ's post about the Sys because I thought it didn't match what the OP wanted.
However, the Sys can be ran in reverse with the volume control at 100%, all noise free, so yes indeed it will work perfectly.
Just plug the DAC into the output and the C2A and Moreplay into the inputs. Use the button to make the switch. Sys is just a dumb switch with no electronics other than the pot.

You could convert the second output of the Moreplay to a tape output instead of a line output, then send that to the Crack.

Hmm.. what is a tape output? how do I do that?
the thing is that the Moreplay makes the sound a bit more tubey than I would like .. this is ONLY for headphone listening mind you.. it sounds great when I send to my speakers via S3X.. this is why I want the DAC to feed my C2A directly and not go via the preamp

Have you tried simply using a Y cable? With one amp off, it should just present a restive load, I don't know offhand what the input impedance is of the 2 amps in parallel but probably >20k, more than many SS amps...John

To make a tape output, you would remove the resistors and jumper wires between the output jacks, then the empty jacks would be fed with twisted pairs of wires from the selector switch.
Just using a splitter at your source is fine if the source impedance is low enough (under 3K or so) and your cable lengths/capacitances are reasonably low.
