Is the SE Jack a "shorting" jack, like in S.E.X. amp?

(1/1)

Adrian:
Title pretty much says it.
I have been using my Mainline for a few years now only utilizing the SE Jack.  I recently got a pair of Focal Clear HPs and used the BAL output for the first time.  Everything sounds great with this output.
I connected the SE Jack to HPs with the BAL HPs also connected.  Both HPs work simultaneously without any discernable difference in response.
Just checking if this is normal.
Should the SE Jack short-out the BAL output?
Does having both HP outputs connected cause any problems (impedance loading, etc.)?

Paul Birkeland:
The jacks don't short out or switch each other off when you use one vs. the other.  When you have the switch set to balanced and you use the 1/4" jack, you end up compromising the performance a bit on the 1/4" jack since you aren't using all the copper on the output transformer secondary.

Adrian:
Thanks PB.
