Moreplay Upgrade Kit compatible with Bendix-5992?

(1/1)

I ran across this comment from PJ:

--- Quote from: Paul Joppa on October 10, 2022, 06:49:55 PM ---The 5992 differs from the 6V6 in that it takes more heater current (0.6amps, vs. 0.45 amps). This is within the capability of the Moreplay power transformer, but the series heater resistors may need to be adjusted.

1) I am planning to install the Moreplay Upgrade Kit as soon as I can get my hands on one :), and since I am running Bendix-5992's, will I need to make any modifications to the DC heater circuit resistor values to drive the 5992?
2) Is there any testing I should perform to confirm that I do or don't?
3) I am currently running them in my Moreplay with the stock series heater resistors with no apparent issues. Is there anything I should be looking out for now with the stock heater supply?

Edit: Oops, I just noticed the Upgrade child board, probably should have posted this there.

Paul Birkeland:
There's a lot more headroom with the individual regulators we are using in the upgrade module. Back of the napkin math says you're still within the SOA for the heatsinks we provide, and I'd imagine the copper and rectifier losses are going to give you even more headroom above my very short analysis.

hmbscott:
Thanks Paul.
