I have been going back and forth for about a month. I have Klipsch Forte IV (99db) and I mainly use solid state integrated amps or a various combination of vintage Tube power amps, with or without my Moreplay in the loop.

My favorite sounding tube power amp being my modified Single ended EL84 from a Magnavox console, using a passive preamp.  It’s about 3.5W and I find it sufficient for my speakers and room.

I’d like To build a better SET and I really want to go with a BottleHead. I had purchased a Prebee2 a couple years ago and I didn’t like it as much as I’d hoped. It was a bit too sterile for me. I liked the “tubey” sound of the Moreplay better. I have since sold it.

Because of this, I am worried that I won’t like the Kaiju sound.

If I build a Kaiju, I would use it with a passive preamp or I would add a volume control to the chassis. May even use it with the Moreplay.

I have heard great things about the 300b and the 2a3 but I am genuinely torn. The extra power of the 300b would be nice. But I have never heard a 2a3.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

The Kaiju is more appropriately setup to be paired with your Moreplay, so on that basis it seems like the better choice.  If you aren't interested in using the preamp you have, then the integrated Stereomour is the better choice.  Either one ought to be enough power for what you're doing, but the extra watts and the better iron in the Kaiju are likely to make quite a bit of a difference, but at greater expense and size.

I suppose the Kaiju with the PreBee2, would be “better” than the Stereomour…..l

I think I’m just going to do that and be done with it.

Yes, the only disadvantage you'll have is price and space occupied by the equipment. 2A3 tubes also tend to cost a little less.

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing….

If I bought the Stereomour, I’d always wonder what I was missing out on.

I don’t think this would happen in reverse.
