I just wondered if anyone here had built the Van Waarde OTL headphone amp design on Headwize and the compare it to a stock crack?
I have built that amp and made some minor tweaks to the PSU and it's got 330uf of caps on the output so it's not exactly as the schematic. I love that amp, partly because it was my first point to point and it worked great the first time I powered it up.
I have recently fired it back up and put a fresh set of tubes in it and I forgot how musical this amp really was. I took a self imposed two year break from DIY'ing and recently went through all my unfinished projects and sold them. Then I dusted the Van Waarde off and figured that I would sell it prior to my crack kit arriving but it was so clean and quiet that I'm going to build the crack first before I sell it.
