I broke in the caps on my GainClone a year ago when I got them.  I did a little more when I ordered the Eros.

I sold the Denon DL-110 and the Sure V-15 - III with it's Jico stylus and the original stylus.

I kept the Dynavector 10x5.

I changed the output caps to Mundorf M-Cap Supreme.  Can't say I noticed any difference in sound with those, but I'll leave them in.

Tried a few different tubes- one vintage United 6922 was supposedly "NOS;" while it was certainly "OS" it was not so much "N" - it performed poorly and bass was rolled off.  I went back to the stock EH 6922.

Milos,

I have been using NOS USSR Military Surplus tubes in the 6922 slot.  That is the 6J32P (6Н23П-WP).  I have been using 6J32P (6Ж32П) for the EF86.  These are true old stock.  The soundstage is excellent.  They are military tubes with additional bracing.  I think that is a factor, no one can prove this or disprove it.  They are pretty inexpensive so you might give them a try to see if they fit your taste.

Dear Grainger;

I have my Blumenstein Orcas+Subs set out about 34" from the back wall, toed in so that the speakers face me square on, and with the Orcas tilted up about an inch to move the image up until I get the risers from Clark. Yesterday, I was listening to the Waterlily Acoustics disc "Saudades" by Dom Um Rom

Hank,

I have only tried my Orcas toed in for a short period.  I have never ended up with that arrangement except with the Servo-Statiks.  Still, they only had the tweeters pointed dead ahead, the midranges were angled to the sides from the center of the panels.

Maybe I should try it for a longer period of time.

I will also browse through the Water Lily catalog.
