Hello, I just saw that Sennheiser unveiled the new HD700s at CES, suppose to fill the gap between the 650s and 800s. They look like a toned down version of the 800s, better looking IMHO. MSRP $999, 150 ohms impedance. I wonder if the cable connectors will be the same? Anyone else has any info or has heard them please let us know.

Cheers,
Shawn P.

Jude did a write up of them on HeadFi: https://www.head-fi.org/t/589738/sennheiser-hd-700-official-unveiling-tomorrow-at-ces-2012

The initial impressions look to be favorable.

Thanks for the links gents! Well Jude seems pretty impressed.. Being the card carrying Sennheiser fanboy that I am I guess I'll have to find someone in town that will be carrying them and give 'em a good listen.

Seems like from what I've been reading they need some tubes to warm them up a little......I was hoping they would have a more 600/650 sound than 800.

Personally, I found the 650s a little dark when I got em. I bought a cable from Zynsonix, thanks to our fellow Bottlehead HF9, replaced the foam over the drivers with some material from ladies nylons, and of course tubes. Love the way they sound now.

I replaced my foam on my HDs with grill cloth.  Opened them up just enough.  Perfect match with the Crack and Moon-Audio cable.u

I used nylon stockings and the top end opened up.

Ha, maybe a little too bright, but Senn. sales would increase exponentially. Would have to buy some stock!

I'll start here even though this thread has been inactive for a while:)

New on this forum and expecting a Crack at my house in the next month or so!   Just wondering if anyone has any experience running the HD700's with the Crack or any other Bottlehead Amps?

I love the Sennheiser sound signature and I'm enjoying these phones without an Amp right now (unfortunately) so I can only image what they will be like with a great amp!

Also running a Modi Multi Bit DAC and an AudioPhellio 2 if that makes any difference to answering the question.

Thanks!
