For those of you who have used cold blueing solution on metal parts in your amps (like screw heads and transformer bells), is it advisable to hit them afterwards with a sprayable satin poly or similar? Will there be any problems with this type of approach when used on the transformer bells, which do get pretty hot?

I'm thinking about using Casey Super Blue on my SEX amp when I spruce it up (once my MQ order finally gets here). However, I've read that the layer caused by the chemical reaction is thin and will not prevent further rusting without a topcoat. Is this correct?

Yes, shoot them with a clear coat or they will rust.

Hi Don,

Your bell end was cleaned, lightly polished with steel wool, and shot with poly-clear (satin) to prevent rust.  This is the standard method for factory built kits.
