Hi Gang,

I've got the urge to tinker with my Crack headphone amp, which can be seen here:

http://www.bottlehead.com/smf/index.php/topic,1632.0.html

I'd like to convert the last capacitor in the CRCRC filter to a film capacitor.

After searching the archives, I've found that the most common method to accomplish this
is to replace the second resistor in the filter with a Triad C-7X choke, which will allow a
smaller (20-30uF?) value film capacitor to be used in the final position of the CRCLC filter.
I do have a Triad C-7X in my posession, but shoehorning it into my chassis (with the
shortened base) will be difficult....

Would it be possible to simply add another 'stage' to the existing filter to allow the use of
the same 20-30uF final capacitor?  Like this  ->  CRCRC[RC]

Just curious!   ;)

Um, yes!

I'd still suggest you get the choke.  It costs under $20 delivered.

Have you improved the output caps yet?  They are in series with the signal.

Hi Grainger,

I've already got the choke!  The problem is one of real estate; getting it
into my 'shorter-than-stock' chassis will be difficult, but not impossible.

That's why I was asking about simply tacking on an additional RC stage.

Try Dan and Paul's suggestion.  Wire it in with long leads and see that your intended mounting area doesn't add any hum.
