interesting observation with the red wine kit. - I would have to agree that the Quickie does tend to 'flesh out' the mids in a very realistic way. What was most dramatic with my Quickie t-amp combo was the sense that everything was more 'robust' and powerful. It was as if the signal was going directly, unfiltered, to the bowels of the chip, and the power was let loose. The amp was able to breath. I could clip it much easier, in fact, with movies with explosive sound tracts it would clip quite a bit!
