Error in Manual and Supplied Parts

(1/2) > >>

fullheadofnothing:
All Reductions shipped prior to June 16th have a known error in the manual. At the bottom of page 32, the instructions state to attach a 47.5KΩ resistor to 10L and 11L as well as another 47.5KΩ resistor to 22L and 23L. The values listed on these two instructions should be 475KΩ. Because the parts list was written based on the parts listed in the manual, this means that the 475KΩ resistors were omitted from packing and two extra 47.5KΩ resistors supplied.

The exact value here is flexible

Thanks for the information. Is it ok if I put a 330 kΩ resistor (orange orange yellow gold) ? I don't know how many watts it can handle  ??? But it is the same size that the 220 Ω 1/4 W supplied with the kit. Will it change the resistance readings at the end ?

Paul Birkeland:
A 330K will work well.  The wattage should be between 1/16 and 1W (in other words, wattage isn't so important).

Terminals 10 and 23 will take on the resistance value of whatever resistors you end up using in this position.

Paul, I got my replacement resistors and the Reduction is working now, very quiet.
The only thing I was worried was reheating the strip with the film caps. I'm afraid I overheated the caps leads. How sensitive are these capacitors to heat?

Paul Birkeland:
I haven't been able to melt one of those 0.01uF caps yet, they certainly seem to be more robust than the average polystyrene cap.

If one does melt too much, this will present a very audible issue and strange voltages that will be very easy to spot.
