Nice!

Orcutt is amazing!

My favorite record of new music in 2014 was Richard Dawson's Nothing Important. By far. Totally amazing, but obviously not to everyone's tastes.

Was thinking about getting the Pet Sounds reissue that is coming out.  Went on a Rolling Stones spree buying several of their classic albums.  Decided against getting any recent reissues there.

I bought a CD of Pet Sounds several years back.  It just didn't appeal to me.

Stuff happens!

Not liking Pet Sounds=not liking music.

It's as close to divine perfection as can be grasped in this mortal world. The songwriting, melodies, harmonies, production...

The stereo remix isn't great, but holy crap that album is a pinnacle of western culture.

I had to google that one, thought you had finally lost it. Googles image search seems to suggest its a Beach Boys album  :)  https://www.google.ie/search?q=Pet+Sounds&safe=off&biw=1920&bih=1065&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=n5KwVNjxIuTP7Qb8m4GwBw&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&dpr=1

I felt bad that Pet Sounds didn't appeal to me.  It seems to be so universally loved.  But it didn't float my boat.

Looked up the album order on wikipedia.  Pet Sounds is 66 followed by Smiley Smile.  I think that is about where I stopped buying the albums.  Then I liked Sunflower 4 more years down the road.

Go figure!

I went to a store called 'Man's Cave" where they sell a lot of bar stools, etc and was surprised to find about 7 copies of ELP Brain Salad Surgery 180g reissue for $10.  The only album they had.

Naturally, i bought it.  Sounds great!...going shopping on Friday.  Will see what i find at my normal used record store.

Just bought and listened to Santana's first album, Santana from MoFi.  I have the original which is not in the best shape but the sonics in the MoFi album are much better.  The original, on my system, sonically, is rather thin, more towards the highs not much bass.  The MoFi has very good to excellent bass, I think the sound stage is also more realistic, especially the track Soul Sacrifice.  This track is truly amazing and it was always my favorite on this album, great sonics and unbelievable soundstage.

Also, found a Trini Lopez titled "On the Move" a mono album at my local Goodwill, paid $2.00 for it.  I have a number of his albums and have always enjoyed his rendition of songs from the 60's.  This one was not exception.  It is a live album so there is some sound quality issues on a couple of songs but a few of his songs were really good.

Just arrived, James Brown Plays James Brown, Yesterday and Today.  This is the album with Poppa Has A Brand New Bag on it.  However I bought it for Song For My Father.

Richard, give the MOFI Abraxas a try.  Just played again this week.

Ruth Moody "These Wilder Things"

Been listening to Ruth Moody for a while on Spotify and finally got around to ordering a CD and have been enjoying the better cd quality for the last few days. Particularly like the track Pockets with Mark Knopfler's guitar a compliment.   Nice album its going to fly up the play list.
