I ordered replacement transistors for the C4S board from an online source and some of the different models came in electrostatic protective envelopes. Being new to this I had not considered precautions for such. Is grounding during handeling and assembly SOP or is this an over abundance of caution on the part of the supplier?

If you live in a dry environment and you have a fetish for shag carpet, I would recommend discharging yourself before working.  (just touch one of the metal screws on the nearest light switch or power outlet).
