Hi there

I have a lead on an Otari MX5050 2SHT & a ReVox PR99 Mk 2

Is the MX5050 2SHT compatible with the Otari tape path mod kit?  Will both run tapes from the Tape Project?  They are both the same price.  Which do you think would be the better buy?

Purpose - Play back only.  No existing library of r2r titles.

Cheers

If you are only going to play 2 track tapes the PR99 MKII might be a little better choice. The Otari does have the advantage of having a 1/4 track playback head as well as a 2 track playback head. But the later versions - BII-2 and BIII are more desirable from the standpoint of a better tape counter and more sophisticated speed control.

Thanks Doc.

Just put in an offer on the ReVox.  Parts are readily available from a seller in Australia, an added bonus.

Now.  Time to wait.
