Beside a faulty headphone socket i assume it can also be just a lousy on board DAC.

About the modi vs ODAC, unfortunately I cannot test neither of them so I need to rely on reviews and I also lack experience with DAC's it will be my first.
Do DAC really make a sonic different besides clarity?
I really want a deeper BASS for my HD650 (a lot of electronic) so going with the modi will be a better choice since its a bit warmer, though on the other end you say its more laid back maybe it won't be a good combo with the laid back HD650 and warmth of the crack o_0

To be honest, tube rolling the Crack will make a bigger difference than the choice of those two DACs so just buy the one that suits you best.

I've never heard the Modi myself, can only go on what i've read and opinions of those i trust.  I do own the ODAC though, i chose it between the two as i built an O2 at the same time so it just made sense.

Thanks, you helped me a lot, I also got the speedball in a box waiting to be installed, I guess I will purchased the modi then :)
Any recommended tubes I should try for a deeper bass?
