This could be considered heresy but I've searched the world over and the best cans I've ever heard on my SEX amp are the Sony MDR-V6.

Really? What others have you compared them to?

I know I am not alone in enjoying the Beyerdynamic T1's with the Sex

I have used only low impedance cans with my SEX, but it sounds incredible with both my Denon D2000 and D5000. Very quiet, chrystal clear and a deep, full soundstage. I'm still able to use half of the volume control as well. I will be trying the Hifiman HE560 soon and I'm sure this will be incredible too.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I'd like to chime in on Adrian's post.  I've used the same wire (Mogami 2534) and found it to make a major change in the way the HD650's sound.  I just updated a set and used the Furutech headphones ends (much easier to use but also much more expensive) and the Furutech 1/4 plug.  I've also put silk sleeves over the split wires.

WOW!

This is both the older set I redid and the recent new set with the silk sleeves:

The Cardas (big monster with no built in strain relief) and Furutech 1/4 plugs.

Beyerdynamic T1 are very good match with the Crack but I like the balance of the T90 over them. Very open so everybody else in the room hears them also

I'm using HD700's with my upgraded Crack (w/ speedball, Mundorf output caps) and really enjoying the combo.  Thinking about upgrading the cable on the phones, possibly a moon audio blue dragon.  Great detail, yet still warm and has a quickness for more upbeat music when needed.

What about Quicksand?
Maybe we have to deal with the choice of resistors for the L-pad...

Hi,

I just finished the Mainline build. Has anyone tried the Focal Clear with this amp? Any thoughts on whether this would be a good pairing?

Thanks

AA

I received a pair of HD 6XX and I really like them with the CRACK, with speedball upgrade and that IBM tube (and a . I find the HD 6XX  to be rather delicate in the highs; detailed but with a silky finish, like a caress on some satin nightgown and haflway through the bottle of Chablis.

Your experience may vary.

Red this interesting thread for the first time.
I would suggest to pair the quickie with decent earbuds.
K's 500 or K's 600 are both in the 110db / mW ballpark and they are pretty good (and not so expensive, between 70 and 110 USD).
They both are high impedance earbuds (500 and 600 ohm) and, IME, their sound is close to over-the-ears phones (I also have Grado gw100 and AKG phones to compare with).

I have a modified DT770 Pro which I replaced the drivers with the 600 Ohm ones.  Very good upgrade, they are kinda bright, but I bought and EQ to tone them down.  Lots more detail and the bass is more tight now.
