Recommendations for headphone extension cable
« on: October 31, 2014, 03:07:36 PM »
I need a 15' extension.  I have read good things about the DiMarzio red cable but they are currently unavailable.

What are other good options?  I'm using Grado SR-80s.

Thanks!

You know Grado sells a 15 foot extension cable?

On the headphones Grado used to have two different cables, one for headphones up to the 325i, then a higher grade cable for the models above the 325i.  The "i" series went to four conductor cables, and i have no idea about the current "e" series.  As for whats used in the extension cable, your guess is as good as mine.

I just want to add my support for the suggestion of the Grado. I use Sennheiser 650's with my Crack and and picked up a 450cm Grado extension cable from Amazon - fantastic purchase and as far as I am able to tell completely transparent.

+1 for the Grado!

I did end up ordering the DiMarzio Big Red.  I need to go 15' to get to the other side of my listening room, and it looks like it is solidly made.

I will let everyone know how it is after I test drive it a while.

My DiMarzio arrived today.  This is one serious cable; you could probably ground-power a 707 with a couple of these things.

I could have gotten away with the 10' version, but the 15'-er lets me lay it out around the perimeter of the room so I won't easily step on it.

So... how does it sound?  I cannot tell that I have an extension cable, no degradation with my Grados.

So I'm very happy with it!
