ITunes can rip to lossless too. If your CDs are in good condition the results are good. If not - XLD is better.
As Doc said - try the apps and see which one fits your bill in terms of sound and usability.

Yes, you just set iTunes to rip to aiff. Amarra sounds far better than iTunes to me.

Which version of amarra to buy? The 35$ amarra hifi or the 99$ amarra? Getting my mac mini ready for the impending bh dac!

The verdict is in, I went with JRiver. I tried Amarra and could not figure it out being the computer neanderthal that I am. My son is an Apple certified tech so he transferred all I needed on my PC to the Mini. I have JRiver on my PC so I downloaded the Mac version. Once I get some playing time with JRiver I will give Amarra another try for the reasons given on this thread. The important things is I am listening to music!
